You're absolutely right about 1.5C. My point there was really to say that we are quite literally making no headway whatsoever in addressing the climate crisis, regardless of the metric.

I read about the scientist survey as well, and it surprised me not at all. One of these days I'll write something about how I got interested in the climate change issue back in 2001, and how terrified I was then after brief conversations with a couple of climate scientists. Unfortunately it's human nature not to give a fuck until our house actually burns down.
