well once we get fully functional androids, as long as we can keep AI under control, then all bets are off as to whether the rich can survive. But broadly I think that a collapse of the ecosystem won't leave many places to run to, not matter how well equipped you are. It won't be an overnight change but the effects of what we're doing are going to be everywhere and longlasting.

I look at the collapse of the Roman Empire as a parallel - some places did better than others, but everyone suffered.
