We'll likely survive but that strikes me as a very low bar. In any case, far more slow-moving extinctions with similar causes have wiped out >90 percent of life and we likely wouldn't make it through either. Still,the key problem is that we're not even assessing the risk to establish how high or low it is.

And since downplaying the risks has been a colossal failure in terms of inspiring action, we might as well scare people. I've been watching this story since the late 90s and things have gotten bad much faster than anyone predicted.
