An anecdote: a while back--ok, two years ago-- I was sitting on a bench in a small parkette by the sidewalk drinking tea in the sun. A youngish, (by my standards), hippish guy walks by and his eye fixes on me for maybe a second longer than expected.

Noticing me notice, he calls out "I really like your style, sir."
