Tangentially relevant, this year I'm going to be listening to Fairy Tale of New York a few times in honour of Shane's passing. I remember I played that for my late mother when it came out and I think she was conflicted because as a very Catholic person she found it a little -- just a little -- crass but she also loved traditional Irish music. :)
