If I were designing the system, I'd ensure that only a certain percent of anyone's membership could go to pay out writers, so after the first thousand claps or whatever, the writers aren't getting paid. I'd also have reporting on any non-boosted articles that are spiking in terms of revenue and if it looks like gaming, I'd adjust them downwards.
