I was part of a small group that held the first Extinction Rebellion actions in Toronto, which were rational, sane, demonstrations. After that more semi-pro activists joined and there was little protesting, just a lot of posturing and infighting over gender expression and identity politics and other things largely irrelevant (in this context) to the climate crisis. The group eventually self-destructed in a blaze of widely ignored social media messages about microaggressions and people being "uncomfortable" (the original group had all long since departed). And that's why we're all doomed.
