I think what we'll all need to get us through is community. Forget that prepper bullshit where you hole up in a compound with 20 years of freeze-dried army rations and rifle ammo--we'll need skilled and collaborative groups of people who will work together to help each other survive.

As you say, it will be a gradual collapse. I'm thinking more life during wartime than the Walking Dead.

That said, if you get caught in the crosshairs of a fire tornado or super-typhoon you're still fucked.
