“Haltor, are you going to sleep all day? There’s wheat to be planted.”

Haltor lifted his head from the straw bed in the corner of the room and looked at his wife Celestia. “Is it late?”

“The sun is almost completely over the horizon. So yes, it’s late.”

“Only farmers get up this early,” Haltor mumbled under his breath. He threw off the pelt of the White Lion of Witchhaven and stood up, steadying himself against the wall with one hand.

“And for the gods’ sake, put your loincloth on,” she continued, “Nobody needs to see that in the morning.”

“I recall a day when you were happy to see that anytime…”

“Shhh,” she said, gesturing towards the table where the twins, Elowyn and Destrun, were wolfing down bread and kraken.

Haltor nodded, picked up the pelt, and wrapped it around his waist.

“Listen, I meant to ask you something yesterday. Some of the guys are meeting up at the Great Hall later, and I was thinking of heading down.”

“Is Sarval Spellcaster going to be there?”

“Er, maybe. I don’t know who’s going.”
