Hence my reference to the Catch-22 and the certainty of collapse if we dump fossil fuels with no way to replace the energy (which isn't really possible, so we're talking about some kind of lifestyle degradation regardless.) But a vast and all-encompassing program could bring us a soft landing, which is irrelevant because we clearly won't do it.
