One thing those Vox happy snaps don't mention is that the price of lifting billions people out of poverty while also lengthening life spans, is the depletion of the planet's resources far faster than they can be replaced. Most empires collapse within a few decades of their peak, often for just this reason.

Climate change and the biodiversity crisis are real and far worse than most people understand. They're also hidden drivers of current headline issues like inflation and the war in Europe.
